Chilobrachys sp. ‘Vietnam Blue’

Vietnam Blue Tarantula — Female

The Vietnam Blue Tarantula is a breathtaking Old World species prized for its deep velvety coloration and subtle metallic blue tones that become especially vibrant after fresh molts. This female Chilobrachys sp. “Vietnam Blue” is an established fossorial species known for its heavy webbing behavior, strong feeding response, and fascinating underground tunnel systems.

Native to Southeast Asia, this species thrives in deep substrate where it can create extensive burrows reinforced with dense silk webbing. While often remaining hidden within its retreat system, patient keepers are rewarded with occasional glimpses of the dark blue sheen across the legs and carapace, particularly during nighttime activity and feeding responses.

Females are especially desirable due to their longevity, larger adult size, and potential future breeding opportunities. Like many members of the Chilobrachys genus, this species is extremely fast and defensive when disturbed, making it best suited for experienced keepers comfortable working with advanced Old World tarantulas.
